7th Grade Immunization Requirements

As soon as your 6th grader turns 11 years old, they are ready to receive the following vaccines:

Tdap vaccine protects against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis, or whooping cough.

Meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MenACWY) helps protect against bacterial meningitis.

Both of these vaccines are recommended at age 11 and are required before entering 7th grade. Protect your child early by getting them vaccinated as soon as they turn 11.

Before starting the school year, all students born on or after January 1, 2002 who are entering 7th grade and new entrants* to Georgia schools in grades 8-12 will need proof of a whooping cough booster shot and a meningococcal shot. Visit Cobb & Douglas Public Health or your private healthcare provider to get these vaccines NOW. Make sure to provide the updated immunization certificate (Georgia form 3231) to your child’s school.

For more information, call Cobb & Douglas Public Health at 770-514-2417 or visit

Attention 8th Grade Parents:

The McClure 8th grade dance is Saturday, May 6th from 7-9:30. Please see the NEW Sign Up Genius under the “Help Needed” section to help make this night a success!

See link below for general guidelines and dress code information.

8th Grade Parents

If your student plans to apply for a driver’s permit during the summer, a “Certificate of Enrollment” must be requested in writing by the parent.  A $2.00 fee is applicable and the request should be submitted to the Attendance Office by Monday, May 14th.  The completed, notarized form will be available for pick up on Wednesday, May 24th.  The Attendance Office will be closed during the summer, therefore the next opportunity to obtain the required certificate will be Fall semester.

Stamped Envelopes

The McClure Trading Post, our school store, will be selling large envelopes with required postage (2 stamps) for $1.50.  Each student is required to turn in a self-addressed, stamped envelope, to their homeroom teacher, before the end of the year, for the mailing of final report cards. The Trading Post is open Monday-Wednesday-Friday mornings.

Desserts for McClure Staff

The Hospitality Committee needs your help! It’s Mrs. Metcalfe’s tradition to provide the staff with a catered lunch at the end of each year. It is our tradition to provide homemade desserts. Please take a look at the Sign Up Genius for details!
