  The Theme for the 2016-17 PTA Reflections Art Competition is: “What is Your Story?” Start thinking about your story.  How can you tell your story in the form of: art, photography, film production, music composition, dance choreography, poem, short story?  Entries are due Tuesday, October 11.

2016-2017 Volunteer Opportunities 

(Committees listed in blue need a chairperson or co-chairs)

Membership – Runs PTSA membership drive; distributes membership cards and keeps membership list current with state and national PTSA.

Science Fair/STEAM Fair-Helps teachers organize projects and transport winning projects to next level of competition.

Holiday Tree – Creates Sign Up Genius requesting  “holiday wish list items’” from McClure families.  Organize gifts as received and shop for items not donated.

Candy Grams – Organize volunteers to sell candy grams before school in December.  Distribute candy canes to homerooms Friday before break.

Reflections – Promote the art contest.  Collect entries and assures guidelines were followed.

Fine Arts Night – Works with the art and music departments to showcase the talents of McClure students. Volunteers needed in addition to a chairperson.

Grade Level Events – Plans and executes an after school event at McClure. We will need a 6th grade and 7th grade coordinator. The 8th grade event will be the end of the year 8th grade dance.  Many volunteers needed in addition to a chairperson.

Campus Beautification - Facilitates campus beautification projects.  Many volunteers are needed, as well as a chair/co-chair.

Lost and Found – Keeps the lost and found closet organized.  Try to return items to students, if possible.

Legislation and Advocacy – Keeps McClure parents informed of all legislation regarding education.

Duty Free Lunch – Monitors students in the cafeteria, to allow teachers to enjoy a quiet lunch.  We provide Duty Free Lunch once a month; look for the Sign Up Genius in the Maverick Minute.

Healthy Living – Promotes healthy living to students, through out the year.  Organizes Healthy Living Week activities.

Trading Post  (School Store) – Sells merchandise to students.  Store is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays before school.

Red Ribbon Week/Anti-Bullying – Coordinates activities during Red Ribbon Week.  Promotes Anti-Bullying campaign.

Hospitality – Helps plan events for Teacher Appreciation Week and other special treats for teachers, during the year.  Many volunteers are needed to send in food items, decorate for special events, and serve on occasion.

Science Palooza – A fun Night of Science at McClure.  Volunteers are needed to help with experiments/activities.

Per the Fire Marshall’s Office, no one is allowed to park in a Fire Lane, whether there is a driver in the vehicle or not, at any time other than the following:
  • 30 minutes prior to the end of the school day and 30 minutes after the end of the school day (this does not include the After School Program nor any other activity at the school)
  • Passengers actively loading or unloading during the day (this would cover students unloading in the morning at the beginning of the school day)
